Stranger than Fiction - Boken!
De kringresande marknaderna i södra Sverige har alltid varit föremål för rykten och mytbildning. Marknaderna brukade vara stora angelägenheter, speciellt Kiviks marknad med cirkusar, tivoli, burlesque och striptease shower, trollkarlar och spådamer och olika typer av varietéteatrar. Under dagarna såldes allt från mat till levande djur, men på nätterna byttes knallarna ut mot raggarslagsmål och tonårsfylla. Det mesta av detta är nu borta och det som en gång var ett lantlig nöje och omnämnt som ett “syndens näste” är nu ett familjeutflyktsmål- även om glimtar av det förgångna går att hitta om man tittar ordentligt.
Stranger than Fiction är tryckt i en första begränsad upplaga på 50 exemplar. Trådbunden med hårt omslag. Boken är på 84 sidor och innehåller 41 färgbilder, alla tagna på de skånska marknaderna åren 2014 till 2020.

Boksläppet skedde under vernissagen till min utställning med samma namn på Abecita Popkonst & Foto i Borås torsdagen 11/5 - 2023. Utställningen kommer att hänga på museet till 24/9 -2023.

Stranger than Fiction - the book!
The itinerant open air marketplaces in southern Sweden have always been surrounded with myths and rumors. The markets used to be huge events, especially Kivik’s market, with circuses, amusement rides, burlesque and strip shows, magicians, fortune tellers and vaudeville theaters. During the days thousands of salesmen sold everything from foods, crafts and furniture to livestock and at night fighting greasers and drunken teens took over. Most of this is gone now and what once was a rural concern, called a “sin’s nest”, is now a destination for family outings- even though some glimpses of the past are still there if you keep your eyes open and know where to look.
Stranger than Fiction is printed in a limited first edition of 50. It is in hardcover and thread bound. The book have 84 pages and contains of 41 color photographs all taken at the Scanian fairs and markets over the years 2014 to 2020.
